Welcome to Darlinghurst School’s Website

We hope you and your children had a lovely, relaxing summer. On behalf of all staff, I wanted to offer you a very warm welcome back to Darlinghurst Academy.
There have been lots of school developments over the holidays, particularly around the school grounds with our new signage and mural of our new logo. Our dining hall now has our bright, vibrant signs and posters promoting positive eating and manners. We look forward to eating lunch with the children and giving out stickers for good behaviour at lunchtime.
New school uniform - we cannot wait to see our children looking smart and ready to learn. We have been communicating with parents and the uniform suppliers over the summer break to help with orders and deliveries. The Year 6 staff and I are looking forward to presenting our new Year 6 children with their ties in a special welcome assembly. They are going to look smart at the top of the school.
Staffing - staff have been in school over the summer, preparing their classrooms and lesson plans for a motivating start to the term. Transition days at the end of last term went well, the teachers are keen to meet their new classes again and begin to establish routines and expectations with their children.
All the staff came together today for a positive Inset day, working in collaboration on the curriculum, receiving updates on teaching and learning, undertaking safeguarding and health and safety training to ensure we have the children's welfare at the heart of what we do.
Communication and engagement - responding to feedback from parents, we are keen to continue to plan key events to share learning experiences, provide workshops to support your children at home and to communicate through the parent forum and focus group. We will continue to keep you updated on school improvements. Our website contains a schedule of dates for upcoming events to keep you informed and we will continue to send parent text messages to help with sharing news and information.
Trips - lots of educational visits and enrichment opportunities are planned for all year groups; more details will follow.
Finally, I am looking forward to our upcoming 'Shaping the Future' event in September, we will be hosting a special day to welcome newcomers to the school. All children will participate in activities that promote our school values in their house teams.
With our logo being the Darlinghurst boat, we have linked our 'house names' to HMS training schools which will be led by their house captains. Mr Turner: HMS Raleigh - Yellow, Miss Lynch: HMS Dolphin - Green, Mrs Hahn: HMS St Vincent - Red, Mrs Dutton: HMS Ganges - Blue.
